The Ever-changing Lifecycle of JavaScript Frameworks

JavaScript Framework

Developing a web application is a lot easier with a JavaScript framework than it is without one. Choosing the right JavaScript framework can significantly reduce the time it takes for you to develop and complete a web app on the internet. Not only will the time to market achieve, but you will also have a minimum viable product in your hands in no time.

As most of our readers will know by now, a JavaScript framework contains a bunch of code that acts as the skeleton for all future transactions. The solutions provided as part of the mix include performance boosters, coding solutions, and readymade editors. A good framework can align the UI together with the application.

Considering the growing demand for JavaScript frameworks and the release of new innovative methods on a weekly basis, the market for JavaScript frameworks is extremely disruptive. There are new innovations available around the clock and tech advances can lead to varying results.

In this article, we study the lifecycle of typical JavaScript frameworks. We do so on the basis of how most JavaScript frameworks operate and what a typical framework does. Stay with us for more.

Studying Major Frameworks and Background Trends

All AngularJS, iQuery, ReactJS, and VueJS have remained significant names in the framework industry for over a decade now. We study the typical lifecycle of a framework based on how these frameworks have performed over time.

jQuery

jQuery was first launched in 2006 and was the first framework of its kind in this niche. jQuery has enjoyed great popularity and support ever since it was launched. However, the release and use of other major players in the market have resulted in a decrease in the popularity of the solution.

Recent research in this regard found that questions related to jQuery on Stack Overflow’s survey were marked at an impressive 8 percent in 2012. However, the percentage of these questions has come down to just 2 percent in 2020.

AngularJS

AngularJS was the first framework of its kind to provide support for front-end applications. The framework was launched by Google in the year 2010 and has since become the leading solution for most developers.

However, Google recently launched Angular 2+ in 2019, which led to the fall of the popularity of AngularJS. Angular JS enjoyed success from 2011 to 2016, during which time jQuery was falling. However, queries related to AngularJS after the launch of Angular 2+ suffered a major hit. The 3 percent question rate on Stack Overflow for Angular 2+ is more than what we have combined for AngularJS and jQuery.

ReactJS

React JS is an amazing front-end library on Facebook. The app was launched as a website by Jordan Walke and has become effective on social media through Meta. ReactJS was first launched by Jordan Walke of Facebook to encounter the extended complications of managing Ads on Facebook.

The framework is now the preferred choice for most users. Stack Overflow predicts that 4 percent of all questions on the platform are related to ReactJS. The figures and popularity of ReactJS are only growing with time. The framework had a similar question percentage in 2014.

VueJS

VueJS is an interesting framework that was first developed and released in 2015. The framework was created by Evan You. VueJs is available for working on single-page applications and building killer user interfaces.

VueJS was initially an underdog in the market for frameworks but has come a long way to be marked where it is currently. The community has grown further and is considered among the best in the industry today.

JavaScript Frameworks After the 2010s

JavaScript is known for its progressive environment and innovations. The frameworks established through JavaScript provide exceptional growth and create an environment for results to prosper. The programs are ever-evolving and are not stable at times.

Most of the popular JavaScript frameworks have gone through multiple revisions in their time in the market. Angular is one such example, which has had 14 revisions ever since it was first launched. The framework has been in the market for 10 years and has seen multiple revisions. Vue.js has seen over 19 updates in 10 years. Similarly, React JS has seen over 14 revisions in the brief period since 2013.

Growth

The growth of all JavaScript frameworks is connected to the entire market as a whole. The growth in computer processing power, smart devices, and other website browsers have led to the success of JavaScript frameworks in the past.

Research in this regard and trends from Stack Overflow, go to prove that certain frameworks made on JavaScript focus on innovation over stability. The frameworks follow trends and new technologies over what was followed back in the day. A quick overview of Stack Overflow has revealed that most frameworks have witnessed a decline after 2 years of success. However, unlike the other frameworks on the list, React JS has defied the odds to still be moving on an upwards popularity trajectory.

JavaScript frameworks follow no constant lifecycle. The lifecycle is distributed across multiple factors, along with the primary utility provided. React JS, for instance, has had a bigger and more prominent life cycle than some other frameworks, such as Vue.js.

Conclusion:

JavaScript frameworks have always gone through innovation and progress. This article helped you understand the disruption in play and gave you a fair idea of what to expect from a JavaScript framework.
